HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.1 Supplement #5 SUPPLEMENT Jaime McAvoy AGENDA ITEM# J-1 To: Suzanne Avila Distributed: 1-11111(4 Subject: RE: License requirement for antennas From: Bill Gibbons fmailto:bill@gibbons.org] Sent:Wednesday,April 06, 2016 10:55 AM To:Gary Waldeck<gcwaldeck@gmail.com> Cc: Duncan MacMillan<dmcmllan@pacbell.net> Subject: License requirement for antennas Gary, There are cities that enforce a license requirement for an antenna permit. For example, in the ordinances of Johnstown, Iowa: http://www.cityofjohnston.com/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/04082013-77 172.03.9.B In the case of ham radio antennas, there shall be proof of a current ham radio license provided to the Zoning Administrator each year from date on which the Board granted the special permit. (Goes on to say that that if the license expires or the antenna is not used for six months, "the owner shall bear the cost of removing the structure".) I found other examples in additional cities. I'm sure there are examples in larger cities, but it should not be necessary to do an exhaustive search to demonstrate an obvious point. -- Bill Gibbons 1
