HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.1 Supplement #1 ITEM 3.1 SUPPLEMENTAL NO. 1 May 2,2016 Jitze Couperus, Chair Kavita Tankha,Vice Chair James Abraham Susan Mandle Richard Partridge Suzanne Avila, Planning Director Dear Planning Commission and Staff, Thank you for the work you do for the Town of Los Altos Hills. I am writing in regards to the upcoming CDP and Site Development Permit for the project at 13531 Burke Road. As you know, I live on Deerfield Drive and have followed both projects. The impact of the development of these two substandard properties on the Deerfield Drive neighborhood has been discussed at many meetings of both the Planning Commission and the City Council. The intersection of Burke, Deerfield and Fremont represents a"gateway" for many residents entering Los Altos Hills. Formerly, this was a small cottage with a pasture with an open vista. Now anyone who uses this important route into Los Altos Hills, and all the neighbors on Deerfield Drive, will only see two boxlike structures. I recently viewed the plans for Burke Road. I know that a preliminary landscape/screening plan is not required, but I asked Steve Padovan if one had been discussed or submitted by the owner. He told me that no plan has been discussed for the new project. Many residents have expressed the importance of maintaining the semi-rural character in Los Altos Hills, and I believe screening this project can balance the needs of new residents and the desire of many residents to preserve that character. I believe screening is critical to minimize the visual impact of this project and future substandard lot developments, and respectfully request that a landscape plan be required. Thank you, Alice Rimer
