Pathway Proposal on Lower Mora Drive
Previous studies used the North side of Mora Drive rather than the South side. The North side is
the current preferred path for people walking to the open space
The North side of Mora Drive has already been at least partial developed for pathways.
The South side will require a drastic cut to the hill side at the curve: perhaps a cut and raised
pathway that no one will ever use.
The current street has proven to be adequate for all who have used it to reach the open space.
Modest improvements are all that is needed.
But Most importantly:
The proposed South Side will greatly increase the danger to pedestrians. Cars going up hill on
Mora Drive always drive slower than those going down hill. (An observation of 40 years.) And no
one would dispute this claim on Bicycles! A car or Bicycle going down on a steep hill, that looses
control, can impart for greater damage than one going up hill.
