Re: - Request from Purissima Hills Water District for the installation of a
well on Town property
During this past fall, Town staff has worked with the Purissima Hills Water
District ("District") as they have investigated the potential of various sites in Town
for the installation of an emergency water supply well. The District Board has
determined that the District needs to develop additional water supplies in
preparation for any future disaster that may cut off their water supply from outside
sources. - -
The District has been looking for a site where a good aquifer exists and where a
District water main is relatively close. One location which meets the District's
_criteria is the Town Hall property. The District has a large diameter transmission
main that is located on the north side of the Town Hall parking lot, which parallels
the Heritage House fence. This main continues along the back property lines of the
lots near Town Hall and connects to the District's tank- on Ascension Drive. Staff
and the District's General Manager have discussed the possibility of locating a_
well behind the emergency generator on the west end of the Town -Hall parking
area. This location would be screened from view from Town Hall as- well as from
the adjacent neighbors, and would be within approximately twenty feet of the
closest water main. The structure that would be visible above ground can be seen
on the attached drawings.
If this proposal is approved, a utility easement would be need to be granted to the
District or a lease agreement would need to be entered into with the District. All
costs associated with preparation of the agreement and or easement documents
would be borne by District.

January 11, 1999
Staff intends to work with the District as they prepare an application to the Town
for the well. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any comments or
concerns about this proposal.
