RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMIVIISSION OF THE
TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
SUPPORTING THE LOS ALTOS HILLS TOWN COUNCIL
RESOLUTION 42-06
PETITIONING THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY COMMITTEE
ON SCHOOL DISTRICT REORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, public education is a vital element of any town; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills once had four public schools; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills is now the only town on the Peninsula
without a single public school;
WHEREAS, the Town's General Plan emphasizes the need for institutional
facilities, such as elementary schools,to serve the educational needs of local residents.
WHEREAS, the reorganization resolution passed by the Town Council does not
provide that any Gunn High School student or any student expecting to attend Gunn High
School will lose that privilege due to the Town Council resolution.
WHEREAS, the Los Altos Hills Planning Commission has previously ruled on
planning issues at the Bullis-Purissima school site and the Pinewood school site which
would have been positively impacted by the Town Council's current resolution had it
been in effect and accepted at the time of the Planning Commission's action;
WHEREAS, planning issues such as these are a central concern of the Los Altos
Hills Planning Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Planning Commission of
the Town of Los Altos Hills supports the Town Council's resolution 42-06 to the Santa
Clara Committee on School District Reorganization.
