A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SURPLUS THE NONOPERATIONAL 2008
FORD F250 TRUCK AND TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT TRUCK NOT TO EXCEED
$120,000
WHEREAS, the Town's 2008 Ford F250 has been in service with the Town for over 15 years, utilized to
haul equipment and larger materials for various jobs and projects; and
WHEREAS, the F250 broke down in January 2025 with a repair cost estimate of $25,000 to replace the
turbo engine and radiator; and
WHEREAS, investing in repairs now may not be cost-effective given the vehicle's depreciated value and
potential for further mechanical failures; and
WHEREAS, the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Policy approved by Council in 2016 recommends
"Trucks with Diesel Engine" to be replaced in 13 years or 100,000 miles, pending the condition of the
vehicle; and
WHEREAS, per the policy and the high cost of repair for the 2008 F250, staff recommend surplusing the
nonoperational truck and replacing it with a similar truck, which could cost up to $120,000 with fees and
taxes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that:
1. The City Manager is authorized to surplus the nonoperational 2008 Ford F250 for sale or
donation; and
2. The City Manager is authorized to purchase a replacement truck for an amount not to exceed
$120,000 from the Vehicle and Equipment Reserve.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 201h day of February 2025 by the following vote:
