RESOLUTION UPDATING THE COST SHARING POLICY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE WITHIN PUBLIC WAYS TO EXPAND
ELIGIBILITY TO ANY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER ALLOWED WITHIN THE
TOWN'S RIGHT-OF-WAY
WHEREAS, the current cost sharing policy program is exclusive only to Comcast Cable; and
WHEREAS, residents in these areas must help cover the cost of building the necessary
infrastructure for service on their street. As a result, some homeowners have asked the Town for
assistance, including financial support, to bring Comcast cable services to their homes. The Town
will contribute 25% of the cable expansion cost with a cap of $25,000; and
WHEREAS, as part of the FY24/25-FY25/26 Budget, City Council has directed staff to expand the
cost sharing program to include not only Comcast, but other internet service providers as well; and
WHEREAS, Town staff is recommending to City Council to amend the amend the Cost Sharing
Policy for the Construction of the Cable System Infrastructure by expanding the eligibility to any
internet service provider. This would expand the Cable Cost Sharing Program to provide financial
assistance to residents partnering with any internet service provider in the Town.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does hereby authorize
Town staff to amend the Cost Sharing Policy for the Construction of the Cable System
Infrastructure by expanding the eligibility to any internet service provider.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 20th day of March 2025 by the following vote:
