A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE TWO SMALL ELETRIC
VEHICLES NOT TO EXCEED $80,000, FUNDED BY THE VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT
REPLACEMENT RESERVE
WHEREAS, one of the recommended strategies in the Town's Climate Action Plan (last updated in
October 2021) to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is the Green Fleet Program to consider and
prioritize electric vehicles (EVs) when possible, for the Town fleet; and
WHEREAS, the three-year leases for the two Kia Niro EVs expired in February 2025, and
Hyundai/Kia Corporate Office no longer offers a new lease program to the Town; and
WHEREAS, staff investigate various lease options for small EVs, but the only current viable option
may be to purchase the vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Kia Niro EVs meet the Town's operational needs for daily field visits, inspections, and
other Town businesses, especially with electric charging stations onsite at Town Hall, and the current
Kia Niro EVs have demonstrated reliability making EVs a proven choice for Town operations while
lowering Town GHG emissions; and
WHEREAS, Hyundai/Kia extended the current lease by six months, and the Town has until August
2025 to replace the two leased Kia Niro EVs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that
the City Manager is authorized to either purchase the two 2022 Kia Niro EVs currently being leased by
the Town not to exceed $60,000 or two new 2025 Kia Niro EVs not to exceed $80,000, including taxes
and fees, to be funded from the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Reserve in FY2024/25.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 17th day of April 2025 by the following vote:
