A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AUCTION OR DONATE THE 2003 DODGE
DAKOTA AND 2008 FORD RANGER, AND TO PROCURE TWO ELECTRIC VEHICLES
FOR MAINTENANCE SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $190,000, FUNDED
THROUGH FY26 AND FY27 VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT CAPITAL
PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the 2003 Dodge Dakota and 2008 Ford Ranger have been in service with the Town for
over 16 years and are primarily used for maintenance operations, and both vehicles are showing
significant signs of age, with mechanical issues occurring more frequently; and
WHEREAS, the Town's Climate Action Plan recommends implementation of a Green Fleet Program
as a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which prioritizes the consideration of electric
vehicles (EVs) for the Town's fleet; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-4.06 of the Town's Municipal Code, the City Manager is authorized
to sell surplus property through a competitive bidding process, and if the estimated value of the property
exceeds $500, the sale is subject to Council approval; and
WHEREAS, the Town's Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Policy recommends replacing
"compact/standard pickups" after 13 years or 100,000 miles of service, depending on the condition of
the unit; and
WHEREAS, on January 15, 2026, the City Council approved the option to apply for a $155,736 Silicon
Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) grant to fund the purchase of two electric light-duty trucks and authorized
the City Manager to execute the grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 2026, staff presented the replacement electric truck options to the
Environmental Initiatives Committee, and they suggested that staff consider the Chevrolet Silverado EV
and Ford E -Transit van, the latter of which can be upfitted into a flatbed configuration by select vendors;
and
WHEREAS, the replacement of both vehicles is estimated to cost between $170,000 and $190,000,
including taxes, fees, and upfitting, equipped with secure tool storage and safety lighting to support staff
operations and public safety; and
WHEREAS, the availability of electric trucks remains limited due to production constraints and high
demand from other agencies; therefore, the Town may need to act quickly, including placing a deposit
or completing a purchase when vehicles become available; and
WHEREAS, there would be sufficient project budgets in the FY26 and FY27 Vehicle and Equipment
Replacement projects to fund one EV replacement in FY26 and the second EV in FY27.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that:
1. The City Manager is authorized to auction or donate the 2003 Dodge Dakota and 2008
Ford Ranger; and

2. The City Manager is authorized to procure two electric vehicles for maintenance services
in an amount not to exceed $190,000, funded through the FY26 and FY27 Vehicle and
Equipment Replacement capital projects.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of April 2026 by the following vote:
