A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE SAFE STREETS
FOR ALL GRANT PROGRAM TO DEVELOP THE LOS ALTOS HILLS
TRANSPORTATION SAFETY PLAN
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) implemented a grant program in 2022
known as the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Program; and
WHEREAS, the SS4A Program includes two grant types: Planning and Demonstration Grants for the
development of action plans such as a Local Road Transportation Safety Plan and for carrying out
demonstration activities; and Implementation Grants for construction and implementation of safety
transportation programs/projects identified in an eligible complete action plan; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills submitted an application for an SS4A grant in Fall 2025 to
develop the Los Altos Hills Transportation Safety Plan; and
WHEREAS, the total anticipated project cost for the Safety Plan is $225,000, consisting of an SS4A
grant of $180,000 and a Town local match of $45,000; and
WHEREAS, in December 2025, FHWA notified the Town of the SS4A. Grant award for "the Vision
for Safety: Los Altos Hills Transportation Safety Plan"; and
WHEREAS, SS4A Grant funds must be expended within five years after the grant agreement is
executed and once FHWA obligates the funds; and
WHEREAS, staff anticipate completion of the Transportation Safety Plan and full reimbursement of the
grant funds by December 2028.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that
the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Federal Highway
Administration for acceptance of the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant Program to develop the Los Altos
Hills Transportation Safety Plan.
The above and. foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los
Altos Hills at a City Council meeting held on 20th day of August 2026 by the following vote:
