The Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission of the Town of Los
Altos Hills was called to order by Chairman Don T. Hibner, at 7:45
P. V. at the Town Mall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills,
California.
ROLI. C`_LL: -R"S 7_'2T: Commissioners Ashby, Benson, Garbett,
Frentice, Sherlock, Chairman Hibner
AB',T,;?,P: Commissioner Hawley arrived 7:50 1. F
A= -T RCV AI. 0- MINUTSS: April 11, 1966.
ACTI OTT:
^.dopt Minutes of Arril 11, 1966 as
submitted.
COM'UYICATIOT73:
1. Letter dated %pril 21, 1966 from T'--rs. E. L. Ginzton, Vice -
kr Chairman of the Committee for Fathways and Open Spaces regard-
ing their concern for a path route within a 22.45 acre parcel
which will be open for bid on Tray 3rd.
At the request of the Chairman, Commissioner Garbett further
explained that Mrs. Ginzton refers to a property which lies
along the Freeway between El Monte and Magdalena on the western
side an''' in the event it is sold for subdivision, the Committee
feels this would provide an important link for hiking andriding
trails without crossing the Freeway and other traffic. if there
is no subdivision, there is the alternative of the Town purchas-
ing a trail approximately 12' in width. It was the very strong
recommendation of the Pathways Committee that there be a path in
this area.
Comxissioner Hawley arrived at 7:50 L. N.
The City Planager retorted there have been numerous contacts on
this rroperty since the bid specification: state the mos 11tos
'.tills Planning Department must be contacted to determine the per-
mitted uses for this rarcel and such: prospective bidders have
been so advised that a path will be required .for the full length
of the property.
In the absence of Mrs. Ginzton, Commissioner Garbett will keep
in close touch with the results of the bidding. In the event
the purchase of land for a trail would be necessary, Chairman
Hibner suggestedit would be opportune to discuss this matter
when I'1r. Nestor Barrett presents his narks plan within the next
30 days.
COMMUNICATION" (Cont'd.):
2. P:r. and Ere. Donald A. Miller, 130'76 Vista Del Valle Court, and
Nr. and Sirs. John S. Ronsiek, 13023 Vista Del. Valle Court,
dated .Lpril 22, 1966, inquiring about the grading on a lot
fronting on Elena, located between La T7arranca and De-r 'ulch.
Since this was not an item of the Agenda, letter was deferred
to end of Agenda.

1. Trails Committee - Commissioner Garbett.
(a) It is expected. that a rreliminarv_ revised proposal for the
'rails and Master Fath clan will be ready for review at the
next planning Commission meetinT. I£ the revisions are worth-
while, such changes can be made on the plan and copies prepared
for public hearings.
(b) Commissioner Garbett reported on the meeting of '.rril 21, 1966
before the State Hishway Commission at Sacramento on the attempt
to get a through road for bicyclists, pedestrians and equestrians
through the Tage Mill Road overerossing without having to cross
the ramps at the Freeway.
It was an impressive Joint effort on the part of all jurisdictions,
spearheaded by Councilman Enid Pearson of Talo !,Ito, with a
presentation of a prepared booklet, with drawings, and attended
by Commissioner Garbett (who gave the general position and
philosophy of trails for the Town o£ ,.as P.ltos Hills), Santa
Clara County I7anning Director, Director of the Palo i',Ito Tlanning
Department, and the talo Alto Unified School District. Two
State Senators and two State ,esemblymen were also present and
supported their stand.
The State Highway Commission did not take action because it was
not prepared to give a firm cost estimate of the Pctoils and
requested time to consider this matter carefully since, if
approved, it would set a precedent throughout the State; there-
fore, it will be some weeks before a. final ruling; is obtained.
Councilman learson will take steps to see this ratter does not lag.
Chairman Hipper thanker' Comlissioner ,arbett and commended him
on the fine job he dic for the Town.

Property is located at 12112 7oothi_ll Lane and the variance
requested is setback reduction to 20' from driveway casement
for garage. Ordinance No. 93, am nding Ordinance ".a. ?83
recuires a 40' setback from the private road since the original
subdivision mar grantedaccess over this casement for three
lots; however, at present only one lot (owned by Fro.
I`iche Ltti) is served by this driveway easrerrent.
Firs. L. Nicheletti, 11751 whirl r,,ue, los '.ltos, owner of
the adjacent lot to the soutt end served by this driveway
^asement, was present and objected to the variance rcnuested.
Mrs. Loney was nresent and stated they are planning a two store
house to fully utilize the lot and minimize excavation, which
will preserve the orchard, and the reduction of setback x!11
allow 24' separation between the house and garage For access
.for fisc and, turnaround. They do not use this easement for access.
Property was inspected by the flap Committee and had no objection
to the variance.
Mrs. I'lichc Ietti withdrew her objections, upon being: assured by
Fro, Loney the garage will be comratible with the: surroundirig
struc-ures and the are- landsceued.
That the request of Robert' . Loney for reduction
of sotbacl- requirement to 20' from driveway
easement for 3arage e approved.
