Resolution 9-04
Proclaiming the Month of April
Child Abuse Awareness Month
WHEREAS, the Child Abuse Council of Santa Clara County is organized as a
commission to the Board of Supervisors for the purpose of preventing child abuse and
promoting healing from its effects; and
WHEREAS, the Child Abuse Council has joined with the California Consortium
to Prevent Child Abuse and other Child Abuse Councils state-wide since 1994 to carry
out an intensive "Blue Ribbon" campaign each April to focus public attention on the
prevention of child abuse; and
WHEREAS, Santa Clara County receives well over 20,000 reports of child abuse
every year and child abuse occurs in every age group, every race, every religion and every
economic group and no community is untouched; and
WHEREAS, the Child Abuse Council, made up of representatives from many
different private and public agencies, professions, community volunteer programs, and
diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, assesses the service needs in Santa Clara County
for the prevention, detection,treatment and legal processing of child abuse cases.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the City Council of the
Town of Los Hills, does hereby proclaim the month of April "CHILD ABUSE
AWARENESS MONTH".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills encourages its residents to participate in the special month-long activities designed
by the Child Abuse Council to educate the public on the issue of prevention and treatment
of child abuse and neglect.
