RESOLUTION NO. 30-04
A Resolution of the City Council of the Town Los Altos Hills
Commending Alex and Kathy Mendez
for their Donation of Maple Leaf Farm as the
Derby Day Fundraising Venue for Westwind Barn
WHEREAS, on May 1, 2004, Alex and Kathy Mendez opened their stables to the
Supporters of Westwind Community Barn for their Kentucky Derby Day fundraiser; and
WHEREAS, the event raised over$75,000 toward the Supporters' one million
dollar fundraising goal to renovate the Town's Westwind Barn to preserve it for current
and future generations enjoyment as a community asset; and
WHEREAS, the Mendez's made Maple Leaf Farm available for this important
first annual fundraising event along with a horse riding demonstration and satellite
transmission of the of 130th running of the Kentucky Derby for hundreds of guests from
Los Altos Hills and beyond.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Los Altos Hills
officially commends and thanks Alex and Kathy Mendez for their generosity and support
of the community's efforts to restore and enhance historic Westwind Barn.
