HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/11/1975VARIANCE AND PERMIT COMMISSION Town of Los Altos Hills 26379 Fremont Road Los Altos Hills, California Minutes of a regular meeting Wednesday, June 11, 1975 Reel 36 - Side 1, Tract 2, 001 to 180 Chairman Schick called the regular meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission to order at 6:40 pm in the Council Chambers of Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road: A. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners Brown, Perkins (6:54), Chairman Schick Absent: None Staff: City Engineer Alec Russell, City Planner/Building Inspector Ken Pastrof, Planning Secretary Kate Tenney B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: April 23, 1975 There being no corrections, Chairman Schick declared the minutes of April 23, 1975 approved as submitted. C. REQUEST FOR BUILDING SITE APPROVAL: 1. LANDS OF ROBINSON, Lot 10, Block M. Tract 2062, La Cresta Drive, Robinson, Engineer, BSA -6041-75 Based on the Subdivision Committee meeting of April 29, 1975, ensuing dialogue with Engineer L. Robinson, owners Mr. Haller and Mr. Robinson, and field inspection, Staff recommended approval of Building Site Approval with conditions as stated in the Staff memo of June 6, 1975. The applicant spoke to two of the conditions, asking for the rationale of the fees charged and the need to prohibit hoofed animals. Commissioner Perkins was concerned with Geology problems and asked Staff if there would be problems with slippage as with Adonna Court and Anacapa. He felt that the drainage problem should be dealt with at the BSA level. City Engineer Alec Russell noted that there was no way to guarantee that slippage would not occur, but that Staff and the Town Geologist both approved of granting this BSA with Conditions 1-8 inclusive. Commissioner Perkins moved, seconded by Commissioner Brown, to add Condition 9 to the list of conditions, stating that runoff from down- spouts, driveway, etc. be directed to the nearest underground drainage `,, facility to prevent slippage or problems on adjacent lots and this to be decided at Site Development. Motion carried by the following roll call vote: VARIANCE AND PERMIT COMMISSION, June 11, 1975 LANDS OF ROBINSON, cont. AYES: Commissioners Brown, Perkins, Chairman Schick NOES: None ABSENT: None Commissioner Brown raved, seconded by Commissioner Schick, that the Lands of Robinson be approved and recommended to Council subject to Conditions 1-8 with Condition 9 added. Motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Commissioners Perkins, Brown, Chairman Schick NOES: None ABSENT: None 2. LANDS OF BLANTON,Robleda and Purissima, Sidney Mitchell, Engineer, BSA -6042-75 As the Staff was not prepared to discuss this item, Commissioner Perkins moved, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the Lands of Blanton be continued to the next regular meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission scheduled for June 25, 1975. Motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Commissioners Brown, Perkins, Chairman Schick NOES: None ABSENT: Mone D. NEW BUSINESS: Discussion ensued regarding the Pathway Committee. Commissioner Schick questioned Staff on the status of upcoming reques%,for Building Site Approval and whether or not Staff had recieved recommendations from the Pathway Committee. Commissioner Brown requested that in the future if after notifying the Fathway Committee of any items for the Variance and Permit Commission and if no response is recieved , the Commission shall assume that the Pathway Committee has no recommendation. Commissioner Brown noted that he felt as the Pathway has ample time to respond, their response should be submitted to Staff preceeding the meeting that such item is to be acted on. Commissioner Perkins felt that clear lines of communications should be established and a table of org,mization, so that the Pathway Committee and the Commission can coordinate as a neatly run organization. Commissioner Brown stated that either the Pathway Committee function well, or not at all.
