M. at the Town Hall, 26379 West S're- mont Avenue, Los Altos 'sills. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Comrissioners Case, Hibner, Mellquist, Stevens (arrived 7:55 r. M.'), Chairman Williiams ABSENT:. Commissioners Dawson, Alter, Tantau MINUTES: December 19, 1959. No :.ction was taken at this tine due to the lack of a ?uorum. 1. Sart H. Tantau - Letter, relative to equestrian paths, was de£er- re tot a meeting of January 23rd. 2. Count apartment of Public '=lorks - Letter, relative to reconstruct ion o o, on ;,ve., was eferred to such time as the St. Nicholas Church Use Permit is on the Agenda. ANNOUNCEMzTS: Chairman Williams announced that this neeting will be adjourned to Saturday, January 23, 1960. COMMITTvE REPORTS: 1. Planning Committee: Report of Meeting held Decor_ber 30s, 1959. OLD BUSINESS: (Quorum was present) 1. Palo Alto Hills Tract No. 2613 - Approval of Road Construction In os oe 1ii�is. - Report of the Planning Committee was read. Mr. Dan Dana, Developer, and Mr. Nestor Barrett, rlanning Consul- tant, were present. Mr. Barrett conr_ented on the planning prob- lem, regarding the intersection of rage Mill Rd. and the proposed private road to the subdivision. He sug--ested that the road be widened to facilitate turning. Palo .Alto Hills cont'd. RECOMMEND:ITION: That, in the matter of Talo Alto Hills, Tract No. 2613, the Planning Comr:ission approve the access to this tract from Page Mill Road, subject to the condition that the design, an to traffic safety, has the approval of the City Engineer. MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Case; VOTE: Passed unanimously Corr.issioner Mellquist cormented relative to the design of the subdivision, citing the Town's wish for roads as narrow as safely possible, no street lighting, no curbs or -utters, and off-street parking. RF,COCST�ENDATI ON That the Chairman of the Planning Commission make overtures to the Tanning Commission of the City of palo Alto, in view of rutual resting of the planning Commission of Palo Alto and the Planning Cornission of Los altos Hills to discuss subdi- vision standards, zoning, etc. MOTION: Mellquist; SEC^ND: Case; VOTE: Passed unanimously 2. rtLths.- Arastradero Road. RECOMNYMATION: That a t'erorar_dur.. be sent to the Council, recommending that no path be required. along Arastradero Road on the properties of Mandoli, Travis, 'Jhitcomb, and Congregation Beth An. MOTION: Case; SECOND: Stevens, VOTE: Passed unanimously 3. Non-residential Uses of land - Iter_ Aro. 9, Page No. 6 of the Gen - oral -: an o os Altos :-lips. Upon on the recommendation of Mr. Barrett that there be no chan!*e in Item 9 on page 6 of the General Plan, the matter was referred back to the Tanning Committee, with instructions to consult fur- ther with Mr. Barrett. NE'.? DUSINESS: 1. 'dhite, Margaret (V-55-59) - Reouest for Reduction of Setback Re- quirements. Report of the Map Co-inittee, by Corrissioner Hibner, recommended granting a reduction in the front setbac'- reeuirer:ent, but recom- mended that no reduction be permitted in the side setback. Dr. James Cross, representing Mrs. 'Thite, explained that due to future plans for an addition to the house, a reduction in the side setback is necessary. white cont'd. 4W RECOMMENDATIO?: That, with the consent of the applicant, the recomrendatior. on the variance of Marg^ret ',Thite (V-55-59) be deferred to the next noeting, and that the Map Cor:nittee rake another on-site inspection. MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Case; VOTS: Passed unanimously PUBLIC HEARING: 1. Lupine Road Official Plan Line. Resolution No. 6-60 was read by the Chairran, said resolution, setting the Lupine Road Official Flan Eine. Mr. 'arrett, Planning Consultant, explained the reasons for es- tablishing an official plan line, and outlined the procedure for adoption. Convents and questions were heard frog the following persons: Mrs. Spring, Mr. L. Noy, Mr. H. Secrest, Dr. C. E. Rothwell, Mr. R. Collins. questions were answered by Mr. D. Meredith, Engineer, and Mr. Barrett relative to engineering , rights-of-way, utilities (wells) in the proposed right-of-way, when the road will be built, and who will pay for its construction. Following a five rinute recess, the Resolution (6-60) ,ms reread. ACTIOII: That 'esolution No. 6-60 be adopted as read.
