STUDY SESSION: WHERE ARE WE GOING AND HOW DO WE GET THERE? A SHORT WORKSHOP
TO ADDRESS SEVERAL PLANNING COMMISSION QUESTIONS
I. Do we have any function outside the Town?
II. How are we doing within the Town?
A. Are we functioning as well as we can?
1. How is our relationship with the Council?
2. Do we interact enough with standing Committees?
(a) Pathway Committee
(b) Traffic & Public Safety Committee
(c) Noise Abatement Committee
(d) Public Works Committee
(e) Environmental Design Committee
3. Are the Planning Commission Committees fulfilling their
purposes in the best possible way? Are there changes called
for?
(a) Subdivision Committee
(b) Site Development Committee
(c) Permit and Variance Commission
4. Are our meeting procedures in need of revision?
5. Given time and money enough, could we do any better?
D. Are we addressing the proper issues? Please think of specific
actions to be taken in regard to each topic if such are called
for - such as study committees, policy statements, ordinance
revisions, etc.
1. Conservation easements
2. Secondary dwellings
3. Marginal lots
4. Roads
5. House size and design
6. Noise pollution
7. Light pollution

III. How is the Town doing?
A. What ordinances need reworking?
B. How well is the General Plan being followed?
1. Does the General Plan itself need reviewing?
2. Does any aspect of Town development need review in light
of the General Plan?
C. What are major Town problems as you see them? Are any of
these our responsibility?
IV. What would you be proudest to have accomplished during your
tenure on the Planning Commission?
The purpose of this meeting is to address problems: to find them out if they are
hidden, to consider methods of attack if they are dangerous, to plan counterattacks
if they are looming aggressively.
