Cahill; Karen Jost Subject: do a study of best town cell sites before 11/5/09 decision? We received a notice about a proposal to add antennas to cell tower at town hall. I am out of town for the hearing -- please include this email and contents in town discussions. Can I ask for a simple analysis before the decision? Identify the top 25 potential cell sites, compare enduring daily exposure (e.g. > 4 hours) to adults within 500 feet and transient exposure to young kids (> 10 minutes) within 500 feet. It is accepted in many communities not to put cell towers near kids. In particular, I know of many other potential town sites which do not have a school bus stop nearby and have many fewer sustained exposure to adults and kids. The tower at arastadero and 280 is one example. See this site, and stories below, for evolving understanding of potential risks: http://www.emrnetwork.org/ October 27, 2009 Listen to Layna Berman, on "Your Own Health and Fitness" radio show, interview environmental consultant Cindy Sage. Ms. Sage talks about the World Health Organization (WHO) Interphone study intended to set international standards for wireless exposure levels. Although not officially published, it appears that the study has concluded that there is a significant risk for brain tumors from cell phone use. This is far stronger than anyone expected. A new report may finally wake the public up to the brain -cancer risks of cell phones and force necessary preventive measures. A new report, endorsed by a prestigious group of international scientists, finds that there is a risk of brain tumors from cell phone use, that industry studies underestimate this risk, and that children have much greater risks than adults. The report, therefore, sends a message to four billion users worldwide and to the $4 billion cell phone industry that they may be facing the same kind of bad news that first burst on the scene for the tobacco industry.
