Subject: Supporting our adjacent neighbor new house on 27270 Natoma road
Dear planning commissionar,
I am writing the LAH Planning Commission in strong support of the project proposed by Jim and
Jenna Ellis at 27270 Natoma Rd. While the home is large (as is their family) we appreciate the fact
that they have adhered to not only the strict letter, but also the spirit, of town building
requirements.
The Ellis' have taken great care to consider the neighbors, adjacent views and impact on the
neighborhood in their design. The proposed house could have been pushed significantly higher up
the hill, resulting in magnificent views consistent with the current view their existing house on that lot
enjoys. Their single story home is well below maximum allowed height, and they have
voluntarily offered additional substantial concessions including lowering roof lines, moving walls, and
giving up a material piece of what could have been "their view" as gestures of goodwill to the
neighbors. The view plane from the new proposed floor level is both modest and a significant
downgrade compared with views from their existing house and those adjacent to it. We commend
the Ellis's hard work to stay within the town guidelines and their attempts to accommodate as many
neighbors' concerns possible.
We can also comment on our direct experience in working with the Ellis' as neighbors. With the
addition of the new road (Palomino Place) to the property we had the opportunity to witness first
hand their concern for how they impact neighbors. Through that entire process they sought our
input, attempted to adjust schedule to minimize our inconvenience and even involved us in the
material selection for the surrounding walls. We are confident based on our experience that the Ellis
family is highly sensitive to the concerns of those who live around them and will be good neighbors
as demonstrated by their care in design and numerous material compromises to their dream home.
Please accept this letter as our indication of strong support for the project directly adjacent to our
house.
