We were very impressed by the detailed plan presented by Eli Attia, the architect. This proposed new residence is not only architecturally elegant but also very environmentally friendly. We love the design of the house as it is creative, artistic, and functional. We believe it greatly enhances the character of neighborhood. The Thruns and Mr. Attia also shared with us their overall design philosophy. They wanted a house that is intimate but not intimidating. Therefore, for a 9 -acre lot, it is a quite small residence. They also designed the house to be very environmentally friendly. They will use all green materials and energy-efficient features as well as alternative energy sources such as solar energy. We were particularly please when Mrs. Thruns told us what they plan to do with their large back yard, which is directly above our property. They plan to leave much of the yard in its native setting. All the neighbors we have talked to like the design and the plan. We are all looking forward to seeing the new residence in the near future. Jim Dai & Sophia Yeh Owners 27853 Lupine Rd. CHARLES GARBETT <crgarbett@sbcglobal.net> To: Sebastian Thrun <thrun@stanford.edu> To the Town of Los Altos Hills: Sebastian Thrun <thrun@google.com> Sat, Apr 30, 2011 at 9:53 AM We have seen the plans for the Thrun's new house, and believe it will be a fine addition to the landscape. We heartily approve of imaginative alternatives to the many many traditional houses that populate the area. The new house will sit comfortably on the land, while being largely invisiblr to its neighbors. It embodies interesting new ideas that should be encouraged. We hope that the plans will receive approval.
