+ebruary 17, 1962
The Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission of the Town of Los
Altos Hills was called order by Chairman Gordon E. Bowler Saturday,
February 17, 1962 at 8:55 A. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Rd.,
Los Altos Hills.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Commissioners Garbett, Hawley, Hibner, Chairman
Bowler
ABSENT: Commissioners Alter, Mellquist, Prentice
MINUTES: February 1, 1962.
ACTION:
Adopt Minutes of February 1, 1962 as submitted.
COMMUNICATIONS:

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
1. Map Committee - N. P. Cole Variance.
Deferred to discussion of the Variance.
2. League of Women Voters - Chairman Bowler & Commissioner Garbett.
Resume of Meeting held on Feb. 14, 1962 was given by Chairman
Bowler.
OLD BUSINESS: None.

1. Cole Nat P. (V-97-62) - Request for Approval of Fallout Shelter.
Chairman Bowler stated that he and Commissioner filter made an
inspection of the shelter; that the terrain is such that the
shelter cannot be seen from the street.
RECOMMENDATION:

1. Pacific High School (UP -99-62) - Request for .1pprovai of Private
Commissi- ner Garbett announced that, being an interested party,
he would abstain from voting.
Mr. H. Stallings, Director of the School, commented, giving
-ortinarl information about the school. He said the school which
was started in 1961, is presently using temporary facilities in

is school has students in the nineth, tenth, and "eleventh grades
Mr. Stallings stated that the school is a non-profit school, that,
most of the faculty members are volunteers.
Relative to parking facilities, Mr. Stallings stated that most
of the children would ride bicycles; that only two cars would be
narked at the school during the day.
The following persons commented, opposing the proposed use of the
James property as a school: Mr. Wm. J. Conlin, 12360 Three Forks
Rd., Mr. Robert Behr, 13464 Page Mill Rd., Mrs. W. Stegner,
13416 i Three Forks Road, and Mr. H. L. Royden, 13466PageMill Rd.
.?,s,scns for objections were stated by Mr. Conlin as follows:
Hazardous traffic conditions approaching Three Forks Rd. (private
inadequate sanitary facilities and possible contamination
dell belonging to Mr. Roydan, use of residence as a school,
an(. possibility of future expansion of the school.
Mr. Stalling stated that the school wished to use the building
f.., remainder of this ,year and for the school year - 1963.
Conditions of approval of the County Fire Ilarshall were read and
discussed.
Tha question of additional. land being used for non-residentaal
use was discussed with regard to provisions in the General Plan.
Chairman Bowler stated that an amendment to the General Plan,
relative provisions on Page 6, para 9 of the General Plan, would
have to be considered which would entail holding several public
hearings.
It was Commission's opinion that the Health Department should
approve the facility.
