MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
June 16, 1962'
The Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission of the Town of Los Altos Hills
was called to order by Chairman Gordon E. Bowler Saturday, June 16, 1962 at
8:45 A. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road., Los Altos Hills, California
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Commissioners Alter, Garbett, Hibner, Chairman Bowler
ABSENT: Commissioners Hawley, Prentice

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
1. Equestrian Trails.
Relative to the Council's request for a Map indicating the established
zones for equestrian trails, Commissioner Garbett stated he wouldsecure
a brownline copy and indicate the zones, such copy to be reproduced.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Albertsworth E F (229-62) 2 lots. Engr. Coburn.
Revised Tentative Map was presented, showing subdivision of two lots,
creating one building site and the possible future division of two par-
cels, designated as Sundown Canyon West and Sundown Canyon East. Parcel
1, the one -acre site, will have access from Lone Oak Rd., off Magdalena Rdq
RECOMMEND^.TION:
That the Revised Tentative Map, dated May, 1962, of E. F..`.lbertsworth
`,. (229-62) 2 lots, Tract No. 3240 be approved as shown in conjunction
with contour Map of June, 1962, subject to the provisions of the Check
List; that the building sites as shown on the Parcel 2, without furth-
er examination, appear to be reasonable.

1. Stewart Ray S. (V-112-62) - Request for Reduction in Setback Raquire:rent.
Consideration was given to request for 45' reduction of setbact frog:
centerline of easement of property bounded on three sides b,7 roads and an
easement.
It was noted that all property owners within the 300' radial distance
signed as having no objection to the variance, with the exception of Mr.
Peter Hughes, owner of the adjacent lot, No. 17. The Deputy Clerk
stated that he was informed of the hearing, in writing. He was not pre-
sent, nor did he object in writing.
R�COMPEuD-TION:
That the Variance of Ray S. Stewart (V-112-62) be approved as re-
quested and shown on Map, dated May 29, 1962.
MOTION: Alter; SECOND: Hibner; VOTE: Passed unanimously
2. Strasman, Fred W. (V-113-62) - Request for Reduction in Setback Renuire-
ment for Addition of a Pergola.
Request was made for reduction to 57' fron Fremont Fines Lane and re-
duction to 24' from the rear property line for addition of a closert.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Request of Fred W. Strasman (V-113-62) be approved in
accordance with the plan submitted.
MOTION: Hibner; SECOND: Garbett; VOTE: passed unanimously
DIVISIOP?S OF LAND:
Consideration of the Tentative Maps of R. A. Bowen (214-62) and Bruce `cNeil.
(225-62) was postponed until requested, by the Developers, to appear on the
Agenda.
1. Breyman E. A. (230-62) 9 lots. Engr. John W. Riley.
Folling discussion of the proposed access from a private road to serve
six lots, the Engineer was instructed to consider making the street a 40'
public road to extend to the end of Lots 4 & 6 to provide access for
Lot 5, the Pfeiffer, Jacobs & Schrock properties, leaving the turning
circle as shown.
` Mr. Schrock and Mr. Pfeiffer were present and commented on the proposed
`, access and water easements.
Recommendation was tabled until the next meeting.

Leon Twig, George Marshall, and
Commissioners Hibner stated that he and Commissioner .iter made an on-site
inspection with the Developers, and that they have studied the Pian.
lifter discussion and review of toe Man, the following suggestions were
made:
a) That the streets be renamed.
b) That University Dr. which deadends at the Town Limits, be joined
with Foothill Dr., eliminating the turning circle.
c) That University Dr. be 50' wide; Foothill Dr. be 60' wide; that
Stanford Ct. be 40' wide.
d) That Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 be served by a private road 18' wide
from University Dr., said road to be maintained by the —7ners
and that a recorded covenant for maintenance of the road be
shownatthe time the Final Map is considered.
e) That Lots 14 and 45 become standard lots (now substandard).
f) That Map show non -access from Page Mill an:' '_rastradero 'loads.
g) That dedication be shown for future widening along Arastradero
and Page Mill Roads.
h) That access fir Lot 8 be chanced.
Questions were raised relative to possible requirement of the Health Dept.
for larger building sites due to probable septic tank problems.
Objection was stated to the length of Page Mill Drive.
Problems relative landscaping were discussed.
RECOMMENDLTION:
That the Tentative Map of Page Mill Estates (231-62) 52 lots, as
submitted, be returned to the Engineer for revisions suggested and
resubmitted at the meeting on July 5, 1962.
MOTION: Alter; SECOND: Hibner; VOTE: Passed unaimously
COMMUNICATIONS:
1. Stanford University - Letter, stating that the proposed extension of
Eiillview Drive, in Palo Alto, from Junipera Serra Blvd. to Uremont Road,
will be a four lane road.
Mr. R. Towle stated that the plan is to widen Arastradero Rd. only from
E1 Camino to the railroad tracks, and up to Fremont Road.
2. Retarded Children' Guild - Later from Mrs.Elisabeth Littig, Fres., dated
June 14, 1 2, expressed hope for approval of use permit. Brochures were
enclosed.
