HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/21/1962PLANNING COMMISSION TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING July,,2 ' 1962 The Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission of the Town of Los Altos Hills was called to order by Chairman Gordon E. Bowler Saturday, July 21, 1962 at C:40 A. M. at the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Las Altos Hills, California. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Commissioners Alter, Garbett, Hawley, Hibner, Prentice, Chairman Bowler; Commissioner Mellquist arrived 8:58 A. M. ABSENT: Yone MINUTES: July 5, 1962. ACTION: Adopt Minutes of July 5, 1962 as submitted. MOTION: Garbett; SECOND: Alter; VOTE: Passed unanimously COMMUNICATIONS: None. ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. COI TITTEE REPORTS: 1. -Equestrian Paths - Commissioner Garbett submitted brown -line map show- ing established zones for Equestrian Trails which will be forwarded to the City Engineer for reproduction. Chairman Bowler stated that the Planning Commission will hold Public Hearing after the Staff has reviewed .the Plan. OLD BUSINESS: None. N3J BUSI"ESS: None. V?RIANCES: 1. Myren Robert J. (V-114-62) - Request for Reduction of Setback Require- ment. The request for reduction of setback to sixty feet (60') was approved by the Council on July 16, 1962, subject to the approval of the Plan- ning Commission. RECOMENDATION: That the request of Robert J. Nyren (V-114-62) be approved. �W MOTION: Hawley; SECOND: Alter; VOTE: Passed unanimously Commissioner Mellquist arrived (8:58 A. M.). -2 - VISIONS OF LAND: 1. Noll Oliver (232-62) 5 lots. Engrs. MacKay F< Somps. Mr. Noll explained that he make an exchange of land for an bridle path easement across the Pachhetti property in order that an equestrian trail might be established to connect Magdalena with E1 Monte Rd. RECOMiiEND k7l ON: That the Map be returned to Mr. Noll to be redrawn to incorporate the following suggestions:. 1. Thirty-two foot (32') all weather private road with eight foot (8') bridle path easement through Lots 1, 2, 3, and paralleling the proposed Junipers Freeway. 2. Increase the area of Lots 1, 2, 3, & 4. 3. Show dedication of turnaround. MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Alter; VOTE: Passed unanimously Chairman Bowler expressed the appreciation of the Commission to Mr. Noll for the establishment of bridle trails across his property. 2. Kennedy Vincent D (233-62) 5 lots. Engrg. Mastin & Kingston. Check List of Tentative Map previously approved by the Flemming Com- mission was reviewed. (Cancelled because Final Map was never filed.) New Check List was completed. R COMr END ATI ON: That the Tentative Map of Vincent D. Kennedy (233-62) 5 lots, Tract No. 2873 be approved in accordance with the Check List. MOTION: Fibner; SECOND: Mellquist; VOTE: Passed unanimously 3. Byrd Oliver E. (234-62) 4 lots. Engrs. Mastin & Kingston. After discussion of the Tentative Map, the following recommendations were made. RECOMMENDATION: That the Tentative Map of Oliver F. Byrd (234-62) 4 lots be returned to the Engineer to be redrawn to a larger scale with an indication of the approximate location of building sites. [ MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Prentice; VOTE: Passed unanimously -3- BMrd cont'd. 4; RECOMPLEi"DATION: That the City Attorney be consulted with regard to the re- drawn map for an opinion on how the Planning Commission might approve the Oliver E. Byrd property as a 'Cluster Subdivision'. MOTION: Mellquist; SECOND: Hawley; VOTE: Passed unanimously RECOMMENDATION: That a suggested Amendment to the Subdivision Ordinance be. drawn which will say, in effect, "That notwithstanding present requirements of subdivisions within Los Altos Hills that the Planning Commission and Council will consider subdivisions encompassing the 'Cluster' type of development so long as the proposed cluster developmenP does not increase the present Town :standards on density.' MOTION: Hawley; SECOND: Mellquist; VOTE: Passed unanimously MEETING +DJOURNED: 10:30 A. M., NEXT REGULAR MEETING: Thursday, August 2, 1962 at the Town Hall. Respectfully submitted, DON T.
