RESOLUTION NO. 388
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN ON LOS
ALTOS HILLS REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE LEGIS-
LATURE TO ENACT ENABLING. LEGISLATION RELATIVE TO A
VEHICLE USE FEE TO FINANCE A COUNTY-WIDE HIGHWAY
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara and the sixteen
incorporated Cities of the County of Santa Clara have adopted
a County-wide expressway system and have completed the finan-
cing of the first phasrof the system at a cost of Seventy
Million ($70,,000,000.00) Dollars; and
WHEREAS, there is a strong interest in Santa Clara
County to continue with its highway program; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to finance additional portions
of the County-wide expressway system with user-related funds
in lieu of ad valorem taxes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Los Altos
Hills does hereby support the concept of a special vehicle
use fee to finance additional portions of the County-wide
Highway System, and does urge and request the California State
Legislature to enact enabling legislation which would author-
ize Santa Clara County to exercise the option of levying such
fee for the purpose of financing a County-wide Highway System.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town does hereby
request that such legislation require that a reasonable speci-
fied portion of the funds so raised be dedicated to construction
of public improvements for traffic other than motor vehicles.
