RESOLUTION NO. 357
RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
LOS ALTOS HILLS REQUESTING THE. UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT- OF THE INTERIOR BUREAU .OF- .LAND.
MANAGEMENT NOT. TO DISPOSE OF ANY PUBLIC DOMAIN
LANDS WITHIN SANTA CLARA COUNTY UNTIL .ADEQUATE
PLANS HAVE .BEEN FORMULATED
WHEREAS, the Classification and Multiple Use Act
of the Eighty-eighth Con ress give the y of the
g Secretary
Interior authority to classify public land for retention
and management, and authorizes the Secretary_ of the Interior
to formulate regulations and criteria under which public
land might be classified eitherfor retention and manage-
ment or for disposal under the various land laws; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Land Management iscurrently
commencing a. classification study for the South Bay
Planning Unit of the Diablo Region, which includes Santa
Clara County; and
WHEREAS, there are approximately eighty-one hundred
(8100) acres of land in the public domain within Santa
Clara County subject to the provisions of the "Classification
and Multiple Use Act"; and
WHEREAS, the Town on Los Altos Hills believes that
one of the prime uses for these public domain lands would
be for retention and management as a part of an overall
open spaceand recreational program properly integrated with
State and Local agencies ' plans. for recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, retention and management of these public
domain lands on an assemble&basis would be of significant
benefit as a semi-wilderness area close to a major
metropolitan area of approximately one-million people;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by this City Council
of the Town of Los Altos Hills, State of California, that
the. United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Lando-:
Management be requested to withhold disposal of any public .
domain lands within the County of Santa Clara until such
time as a cooperative planning and classification effort
is completedinvolving the United States Government, the
State of. California, the County of Santa Clara, 'and the
Town of Los Altos Hills, California, said study to be
completed within a reasonable time.
BE. IT FURTHER _RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution
shall be sent to all affected State and Federal governmental
agencies and legislators.

I HEREBY CERTIFY. that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly adopted at a regular meetingof the City Council
of the Town of Los Altos Hills held on the 18th day of July,
1966 by the following roll call vote:
